As a member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), I have participated in two men's honor choirs that mixed college students with high school students selected by their directors. These honor choirs are directed by professional directors from university positions or private ensembles across the nation. This gives the college students a chance to see first-hand how a professional director interacts with their choir in addition to giving the high school students a chance to perform with other talented musicians.

I have also participated in North Dakota Intercollegiate Band for two years. This is a group of university students who are selected by their directors to perform in a combined ensemble under a guest director. This gives the participating students the chance to see a professional director rehearse an ensemble in a manner that is usually different from their previous directors. The participating students also get the opportunity to attend a "Q&A" with the director: allowing for some very important questions to be asked and answered that cater to both educators, performers, and composers.

I have attended technology workshops on active board/Promethean board technology. These workshops gave me the resources necessary to operate an active board and create presentation/slide shows on relevant programs. I am also knowledgeable in Finale notation software, SmartMusic, and MuseScore. These programs can help serve as assessment tools for my students and resources to supplement my classroom.

As a member of the National Association for Music Education (NAFME), I have attended workshops and professional development seminars specifically created for music educators by music educators. These workshops cover everything from showcasing new lesson plans and ensemble repertoire, "back to basics" techniques courses, and how to better interact with parents, colleagues, and administrators.
